1 lb Ground beef
4 oz diced onions
1 Hautly Colby longhorn, sliced 1/4 inch thick and quartered
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. black pepper
16 slices of mini rye bread or
16 slices of toasted French bread
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Mix well ground beef, onion, salt and pepper. Place a
small amount of ground beef mixture in the palm of your hand, put a quarter of Hautly Colby in the center of the ground beef then place more ground beef over the cheese. Form a mini burger, be careful not to let the cheese be exposed. Place firmly onto the sliced bread. Transfer onto baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes. In the last minutes of baking place the remaining Colby quarters on top of the burgers. After the cheese has melted, remove from the oven. Let cool for 3 minutes – (Careful, hot!).
