Non-GMO

Non-GMO means “no genetically modified organisms” or ingredients have been knowingly used in the product carrying this claim. Genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) are organisms whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. The suppliers for the non-dairy ingredients in the product have provided specifications and or certifications to support this claim. Genetic engineering techniques may have been used in the production processes of ingredients used in this product such as citric acid or rennet.

The dairy ingredients are from cows not treated with rBST that may have been fed Genetically Modified crops if the item is not also listed as “Organic”. No significant difference has been shown between milk derived from rBST-treated and non-rBST treated cows.

None of the ingredients used are required to be routinely tested for the presence or absence of genetically modified material rather assurance is through supply chain management. Product may contain through incidental crop transfer less than 0.9% detectable genetically modified components. We will not knowingly use GMO ingredients and will use all due diligence to exclude GMO cross contact. Honey when used must meet USDA Organic Standard i.e.  USDA Hive location standards and/or follow the EU 0.9% standard.

Ingredients and Food Additives can be made with the help the of GMO’s. This is significantly in line with the more advanced experience of the European Market NONGM approach. As an example microbiological cultures, carrier substances when used in limited quantity (e.g. for vitamins and flavors), and enzymes are considered NonGM even when they are produced from GMOs. Indirect Processing aids (those from supplied ingredients) maybe from GE crops. Packaging materials are not GMO restricted as to source as this is not typically a source of GMO components for our products.
